Sigiriya

The Lion Rock Fortress

OVERVIEW

Sigiriya

Sigiriya, the 'Lion Rock', is Sri Lanka's most iconic landmark. This 5th-century rock fortress rises 200 metres above the surrounding jungle, crowned by the ruins of an ancient palace. The site features remarkable frescoes, the famous mirror wall, and landscaped gardens that rank among the oldest in the world. It's a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Sri Lanka's single most visited monument.

Sigiriya is the centrepiece of Sri Lanka's Cultural Triangle. Combined with nearby Polonnaruwa, Dambulla, and Anuradhapura, it offers an immersive journey through over 2,000 years of Sri Lankan history.
